The Set Up — The Uphill Journey to Women’s Power

With the backdrop of a multi-media presentation, Charis Denison discusses the messages young women are surrounded by that shape how they define themselves, how they behave, and how they communicate. This workshop highlights the consequences young women face when they do not challenge media stereotypes and societal norms about who women should be. Participants are given a forum in which they are able to explore their own and their classmates’ assumptions about those messages and what girls can do individually and collectively to resist these obstacles to achieve real power, pride, and purpose. This presentation may be tailored to the developmental needs of 6th to 12th grade girls.
